Girl, 14, raped in Bedford park

A 14-year-old girl has been raped by a man in a park in Bedford.

The attack happened as the girl was walking home along a path in Jubilee Park at 2300 BST on Saturday.

The man is black, possibly in his 20s, 6ft (1.83m), of muscular build with a goatee beard and a diamond stud earring in his right ear lobe.

He was wearing a black NY cap, black Nike tracksuit top and black trousers. Police appealed for anyone with information to contact officers.

A FORMER physics teacher at a leading girls' school in Adelaide asked to keep a student's underwear after a sexual encounter with the teenager, a court has heard.

Bror Torbjorn Palmen, 61, has gone on trial in the South Australian District Court charged with six counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two counts of indecent assault.

Opening the crown case on Wednesday, prosecutor Phil Crowe said it was alleged Mr Palmen engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with the student, who was aged between 15 and 17 at the time.

DETECTIVES are again appealing for information about the shooting death of a man whose body was discovered in bushland in the NSW Hunter region.

Steven Quire's remains were found in a shallow grave at Freemans Waterhole, 40km west of Newcastle, on March 13 this year.

WHEN property tycoon Warren Anderson was called a pedophile by his estranged wife, he was provoked like any "ordinary person" would have been and grabbed her, his lawyer says.

Anderson is appealing a decision by a Perth magistrate in April, which found the multi-millionaire guilty of assaulting his wife Cheryl Anderson.

His lawyer Laurie Levy argued in the Supreme Court in Perth on Wednesday that Magistrate Pamela Hogan had misdirected herself in handing down the verdict by not giving due consideration to the defence of provocation.
