Hello, my name is Antoinette Wood. I recently graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Masters in Criminal Justice. My thesis topic is Hybrid Gangs and the Hyphy Movement: Crossing the Color Line in Sacramento County. My thesis was written as a dual purpose document; one that academia can use to expand the current field of knowledge of African American gangs and their hybridization due to the Hyphy Movement, and one that law enforcement can use as a training tool and factual analysis of the gangs in Sacramento County that articulates both the history and current state of the gangs. In effect, the goal of this thesis was to explore the concepts of Hybrid Gangs and the Hyphy Movement in a manner that served the needs of academia and law enforcement.
